Hunt Valley, MD — Taylor & Francis UK (T&F UK) has chosen Sheridan as print provider for its US journals program. Taylor & Francis Group, headquartered in Abingdon, Oxon, United Kingdom, is one of the largest journal publishers in the world with leading journals in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and STM disciplines.
T&F UK Journals Group journals will be produced on Sheridan’s digital press platform, which features an HP™ T240 Inkjet Press. The press is the first of its kind in the US utilizing HP’s HDNA technology, which supports high definition printing of short run journals.
In addition to our high definition print technology, T&F UK is utilizing Sheridan’s offset (sheetfed and web) digital toner, inkjet, and POD print platforms and custom journal support services, including Sheridan’s superior back issue fulfillment & warehouse services, co-mailing, subscriber services, commercial article reprints and eprints. T&F UK utilizes all three of Sheridan’s state-of-the-art print facilities in the US.
Stewart Gardiner, T&F UK, Global Production Director, Journals, spoke about T&F UK’s decision to select Sheridan. “Taylor & Francis journals is delighted to be partnering with Sheridan in 2017 to deliver our North American print program. Offering our UK and European learned society customers the opportunity to print and distribute from the United States is a valuable commercial proposition for us.”
“The longstanding and successful relationship our US sister company has had with Sheridan gave us confidence to place all our work with them. I would also add that unlike some US printers, Sheridan speaks the European print language; a specification expressed in millimeters and gsm is not an alien language to them.”
“What closed the deal with Sheridan was their investment in the latest HP Inkjet press kit. We’ve been printing our European program on inkjet for a number of years and have come to appreciate the flexibility, speed, and cost benefits of this technology. Having a partner in the US operating the same presses as our UK manufacturers provides very real benefits to us in the form of standardisation and consistency of product quality across our global footprint.”
Paul Bozuwa, Sheridan Chief Sales Officer commented, "It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we grow our T&F relationship to include the important UK journal portfolio. We strive to put together the right solutions for journal publishers throughout the world. As such, we continue to invest heavily in new print and workflow technologies while always maintaining our promise of superior customer service in order to be relevant to both US and global publishers.”
